At the helm is John Scott, Company Director, T: 027 457 9388, E: john@scaffolding.org.nz  whose career began at the Civil Engineering College at Bircham Newton, Norfolk, UK on the 1983 Cecol scaffolding course under the sponsorship of GKN Kwikform Limited.

John completed his training in 1987 as an advanced scaffolder working around Portsmouth, UK, working as a chargehand on all aspects of scaffolding including commercial, residential and marine.

He holds a National Certificate in Advanced Scaffolding and a Site Safe Gold Card. Following is a timeline summary of his movements:

  • 1989-1993 Advance Scaffolding, Portsmouth, UK as Owner-Operator
  • 1993-1999 Scaffolding Services, Portsmouth, UK. Charge-hand scaffolder erecting all types of scaffolding
  • 1999-2003 Foreman-scaffolder for Palmers UK, working in and around South London mainly on commercial contracts
  • 2003-2010 Pacific Scaffolding Limited, Auckland. Started out as Leading hand scaffolder eventually becoming Supervisor, then Contracts Manager. Some of the projects worked on include Auckland Hospital, Sky City Convention Centre, University of Auckland Business School, Stamford Plaza and Eden Park.

Director, Bruce Pickerill

Bruce started in the scaffolding industry in Sydney, Australia in 1986 working on high rise construction.

He completed a Scaffolding Class 1 Certificate of Competency NSW and holds a National Certificate in Advanced Scaffolding and a Site Safe Gold Card. His activities have involved:

  • 1990-1994 Macsway Scaffolding Limited. Various residential and commercial projects such as Marsden Point Oil Refinery and Portland Cement
  • 1994-2003 Pacific Scaffolding Limited, Auckland. Starting out as Scaffolder eventually becoming Supervisor. Worked on several petrochemical, residential and commercial projects including film industry sets such as Xena and Hercules
  • 2004-2008 Owner of a Pacific Scaffolding franchise. Primarily focussed on residential and light commercial projects. Sold the franchise in 2008
  • 2008-2010 Contracts Manager for Pacific Scaffolding Limited responsible for overseeing a variety of residential and commercial projects such as Fonterra House, Princes Street and Mt Eden Prison.

Bob Aughey, Contracts Manager

Bob has been working in the scaffolding industry for 20 years now.

He is originally from Ireland.

He supervised Summit’s scaffold workforce in the construction of Water View tunnel in Auckland.

He had then overseen the scaffold building of the NZICC Convention Centre in Auckland CBD.

Bob is an Advanced Scaffolder and holds a gold Site Safe card- Training and Supervising workers, SARNZ COC Advanced.

Safety Manager, Ian Braithwaite

Ian has worked in the scaffolding industry for almost 30 years in the UK and NZ.

He holds a, UK advanced scaffolders card SARNZ suspended/advanced card, and Site safe gold card.

Ian gained his UK qualifications at the Civil Engineering College, Bircham Newton and worked
in England’s Lake District on residential and commercial projects from 1990-1999.

He moved to New Zealand in 1999 and joined Pacific Scaffolding where he worked on numerous projects as site foreman including:
AUT, Auckland Hospital, PWC Tower, Eden Park redevelopment (RWC 2011) Film/TV sets.

After spending time working in the South Island (Canterbury and Otago) Ian joined Summit Scaffolding in April 2014 and was site foreman on large projects including:
TVNZ redevelopment Fonterra HQ Auckland prison (Paremoremo) NZICC

Ian became health and safety manager in March 2019, this roll includes the safety and welfare of over 100 scaffolders and regular audits of all current projects.

Jolene Emery- Health and Safety Manager

Jolene has joined the Summit Scaffolding Team and is managing the Health and Safety requirements specifically for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty.

She has joined us from the high-risk industry of Aerial Fertiliser application where she has been for over five years. Also bringing with her various complimentary skills to enhance the established Health and Safety Culture. With training and breaking content down into everyday language she works closely with the business in both compliance and the Safety and Wellbeing of the person as a whole.

Having a background in auditing, incident investigations and government regulations she has embraced the challenge of leaving Aviation Safety behind and is quickly adapting to the world of Scaffolding and construction sites.

Branch Manager, Gary Pearson

Originally from the UK with 30 years’ scaffolding experience worldwide.

Gary is an Advanced Scaffolder and holds Site Safe Gold Card- in Leadership and Risk Management.

He had worked with several Major Projects in Asia, Middle East, and South Africa.

He had managed the scaffold construction at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, which is the venue for a world-class horse racing and can accommodate 60,000 spectators.

He was part of the senior scaffold management team and led in the construction of the renowned Louvre Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He had overseen over 1000 scaffolders all through out these projects.

His expertise and extensive knowledge in scaffolding had taken him to work alongside massive projects in the Oil and Gas industry in China and Angola, Southwestern Africa.

Gary has obtained his NEBOSH and IOSH International certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

His experience includes:

  • 1985 – 2000 ATEC Scaffolding, Preston, UK – Scaffolder/Foreman
  • 2000 – 2007 Exel Scaffolding, Preston, UK – Supervisor
  • 2007 – 2009 Kwik Scaff LLC Dubai – Scaffold trainer/Evaluator
  • 2009 – 2015 (AMS) Access Made Safe Scaffolding – Scaffolding Operations Manager
  • 2015 – 2015 SBM Offshore, FPSO Project China – HSE Scaffolding Superintendent
  • 2016 – 2017 GSO/Chevron. Angola – Scaffolding Project Manager.

Dexter Lipp, Contracts Supervisor

Dexter holds a Certificate 4 Intermediate Scaffolding in New Zealand.

He has a proven track record of working excellently in the scaffolding industry both in New Zealand and in Australia.

His familiarity with health and safety, first aid, license to operate equipment and machinery such as Boom type Elevated Working Platform (EWP), Gas testing, Firefighting equipment, and supervisory training and certifications, makes him one of the assets of Summit Waikato workforce.

Hayden Ruki, Yard Supervisor

Hayden has a wealth of experience both in the scaffolding and warehousing industry. He holds a heavy vehicle class license and is a qualified Hi-Ab operator.

Lee Buckley, Scaffold Design Engineer

Lee started in the Scaffold Industry as a Yard Operative in 1996 with Crest Scaffolding in Manchester UK.

Over the next ten years while employed by Crest he underwent training up to advanced level which he achieved in 2001.

In 2007 he began his training as an Engineer.
In 2010 he became a qualified Engineer.

Lee formed Buckley Design Solutions in 2011 until present.

Pamela Pearson

Office Manager

Pamela holds a degree in Electrical Engineering. She is originally from the Philippines.

She has over 15 years of Administration experience managing offices and Commercial Properties in Abu Dhabi UAE.

Pamela has acquired a certification in Proficiency in Accounting New Zealand and oversee office and accounts for Summit Scaffolding Waikato.
